[ARCHIVED] Dallas Acworth SSO Statement

On 12/28/2021 at 9:05 a.m. a broken sewer force main was discovered by collection crews located approximately 100 yards south of Homestead Drive just off the edge of Dallas Acworth Highway. The Timberlands lift station was immediately turned off and pump trucks were mobilized to maintain the flow coming to the station while the County's contractor installed replacement piping. Sewer water drained from the line for two hours stopping at 11:05 a.m. The water was estimated to be flowing at 30 gallons per minute for a total spill of 3600 gallons. The sewer drained into a detention area and into a quarter of a mile tributary of Pickets Mill Creek. Signs were placed at the leak and at the mouth of the tributary. Lime will be applied to the ground in the area of the break. A capitol project to replace the main will be evaluated.
