This morning collections crews responded to an alarm at Oakleigh pump station. The pump station was found to be out of operation. While crews began repairing the pump station, a pump truck had been called and was on its way to the site. During the repair work, a manhole beside the station filled and began to overflow. The manhole overflowed for 12 minutes from 11:18 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. until the pump truck arrived on site. A total of 180 gallons of sewer flowed onto the ground to Picketts Mill Creek. The manhole was pumped down, the pump station has been put back into service and the area has been inspected. Signs have been placed at the creek and the lift station and lime has been applied to treat the area.
