A call was received at 3:24 pm on 8/28/22 reporting an odor coming from a wooded area behind Somerset Pump Station. Water Department staff arrived on site at 4:10 pm. Evidence of flow entering a tributary of Picketts Mill was observed just south of the pump station. The Somerset Pump Station was turned off at 5:35 pm and the overflow entering the creek stopped. Approximately 8277 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto the ground and into Pickets Mill Creek. The blockage is cleared. Work is ongoing to clean the gravity main south of the station, restore and lime the surrounding area, and place signs at the access to the creek.
