A call was received at 4:40 p.m. on 8/19/22 reporting a broken sewer pipe running into storm drain. Water Department staff arrived on site at 5:20 p.m.. The aerial sewer pipe crossing the storm drain had failed and dropped. The sewer pipe was jacked up to the proper elevation, jetted and the overflow was stopped. Approximately 8277 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled onto the ground and into Picketts Mill Creek. Work is ongoing to make a permanent repair, and a bypass pump is on site. The site was limed and signs have been placed at the creek.
