Extension
Service The Paulding County Extension Service is a collaboration between the county
and the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
The main focus of the Extension Service is the delivery of unbiased educational
information in the areas of Agriculture/horticulture, Family and Consumer
Science, 4-H and Youth Development and Leadership attainment. We are the
first step for county residents looking for assistance to solve problems
in these areas.
Paulding County has supplied residents with county agent assistance since
1915 when the county was primarily driven by agriculture production. At
that time less than 8000 people lived in the county and they depended
on themselves to produce their own food supplies. The head of the family
produced consumable food items while the lady of the family preserved
these food items until such time that they were needed to feed the family.
The children assisted in all types of chores around the farm as needed.
In the 21st century, Extension plays a somewhat different role. County
agents provide information through one on one workshops, phone consultations,
computer e-mail, group seminars and distance learning. Some of the types
of projects that agents work on are water conservation, nutrition, youth
leadership development, horticulture production; water quality, household
budgets, team building and life skills.
To reach the Extension Service, residents may visit us at 530 West Memorial
Drive, call us at 770-443-7616 or e-mail us at uge2223@uga.edu. We pride ourselves with being able to deliver information back to our
public.
