Notice to Voters in Paulding County, Georgia

Of Intent to Process Absentee Ballots

Prior to the Closing of the Polls

For the June 9, 2020

General Primary and Nonpartisan Election

 

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-386(a)(1)(G)(4) and State Election Board Emergency Rule 183-1-14-0.7-15 you are hereby notified that it is the intent of the Paulding County Board of Elections to begin processing paper absentee ballots cast during the June 9, 2020 General Primary and Nonpartisan Election beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2020 and will continue until 4:00 PM daily through Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Board of Elections Office located at  240 Constitution Blvd., Dallas. Processing paper absentee ballots will resume on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Board of Elections Office located at 240 Constitution Blvd., Dallas, and will continue until completed. 

The early processing of absentee ballots before the closing of the polls shall be a controlled process in order to maintain the secrecy of all ballots and to protect against the collection or disclosure of any balloting information before the close of the polls at 7:00 P.M. on Election Day.

Notice to Paulding County Absentee Voters

 

Absentee Ballots have been mailed. 

BALLOTS ARE BEING MAILED BY A THIRD PARTY VENDOR CHOSEN BY THE GEORGIA SECRETARY OF STATE. THEY ARE BEING MAILED IN BATCHES. PLEASE BE PATIENT WHILE AWAITING YOUR DELIVERY.

PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN OPENING. IF YOU OPEN WITH AN OPENER OR SHARP KNIFE YOU WILL CUT YOUR BALLOT AND IT WILL HAVE TO BE REISSUED.

When you receive your ballot, you will notice a change. There is no inner privacy envelope. However, there is a privacy sleeve. Use these simple instructions when returning the ballot:

  • Complete your ballot.

  • Fold the privacy sleeve around your  ballot.

    • You are not required to seal the privacy sleeve. However, you can seal the privacy sleeve, if you would like. PLEASE DO NOT LET WHATEVER YOU ARE USING TO SEAL THE PRIVACY SLEEVE TOUCH THE BALLOT

  • Place the folded privacy sleeve with the ballot in the return envelope. 

    • The  ballot will not be rejected, if the privacy sleeve is not included. 

    • Complete  the oath on the return envelope and place it in the mail to the County Registrar’s office.

important election information and covid-19

the March 24, 2020 presidential preference primary and the may 19 general primary is postponed to june 9, 2020.

Due to the mounting concerns over COVID-19 and the current Public Health Emergency, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has issued an order to POSTPONE the Presidential Preference Primary Election from March 24, 2020 AND the May 19, 2020 General Primary to June 9, 2020.

All in-person absentee/early voting ended on Saturday, March 14. 2020. There will be no more in-person voting until in-person voting begins on May 18, 2020.  

All outstanding absentee ballots that have been mailed should be voted and returned to the election office, as they will count and be accepted as normal.

If you cast your vote in the Presidential Preference Primary during absentee/early voting, your vote will count and be tabulated. YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE MAY 19, 2020 STATE PRIMARY, however, the PPP election will not be included on your ballot.

IMPORTANT ABSENTEE VOTING INFORMATION

  • TO SUBMIT AN ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION VIA EMAIL PLEASE USE THE FOLLOWING EMAIL ADDRESS: absenteerequest@paulding.gov 

  • it is important to provide a phone number and an email address on  your absentee application just in case there is an issue with you application

  • in all primary elections you must select a ballot style. if you select non-partisan, your ballot will contain only non-partisan judges, non-partisan questions, and possible special elections.  

  • no ballots can be mailed after 5pm on the Friday before the election

  • no ballots can be handed over the counter to anyone. all ballots are mailed via united states postal service

  • all absentee questions must be directed to:

  • you do not have to have a reason to request an absentee ballot

  • in Paulding county, absentee ballots are tabulated first on election night
